Biography

Ernest “Charlie” Tauzin has experience in the assessment and management of hazards associated with mold, lead, asbestos, and other environmental hazards. He has performed initial inspection and collection of samples, interpretation of results, and assistance in the development of written reports. Ernest is also experienced in water, wind, and mold remediation following natural disasters and water damage losses. He has worked with engineers to determine sources of moisture intrusion, develop water damage, and mold remediation protocols to mitigate damages and perform oversight with clearances prior to build-back. On several rehabilitation and renovation projects, Ernest has worked with architects, construction managers, and project designers to determine potential environmental hazards present such as lead and asbestos; assist in developing specifications to address those hazards during renovation activities, considering the construction and design of the building; and following up with final clearances prior to build-back and re-occupancy. He has also been project manager on demolition projects, where understanding the construction and design of historic buildings has been imperative to screen for asbestos-containing materials (ACM), and understanding renovation and paint histories greatly assisted in inspecting for lead-based paint.

Ernest is experienced in conducting and leading investigations to identify corrosive drywall installed in residential and commercial buildings. He is also experienced with inspections of air handling units and determining indoor air quality within commercial and residential buildings. As an industrial hygienist, Ernest has acted as a safety manager, safety officer, and a safety auditor for various companies. He has been responsible for reviewing and producing safety plans and operations as well as conducting safety training and inspections. Ernest is familiar with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as it relates to asbestos and lead abatement, renovation, and demolition projects.

Ernest graduated from the Columbia Southern University with a Master’s of Science in Occupational Safety and Health and Environmental Management and is certified to conduct asbestos, lead and indoor air quality inspections and supervision, industrial hygiene, safety management, and lead and risk assessments.
