Biography

During his tenure at J.S. Held, Erik has been responsible for estimating, project management, scheduling, and on site project monitoring oversight on many of the largest property losses in the United States, Africa, and the Caribbean. His diverse background includes consulting on high‐rise, residential, commercial, industrial, retail, historic building, railway, bridge and major personal lines losses.

Erik has acted as principal building loss consultant to insurers on some of the largest and most complex building claims in U.S. insurance history: The Bank One Building Tornado Loss – Ft Worth, TX and the World Financial Center / One Liberty Plaza Claim and the Deutche Bank Building Claim from the September 11 terrorist attack. In each case Erik had team leadership responsibilities for development of scope of loss, estimating, full time project review, and approval of submissions for work.

Erik has earned a reputation within the industry as a leading expert in evaluating loss‐related scope and claim costs resulting from catastrophic events. He has organized teams of workers providing scope of loss, estimating, and clerking functions following numerous catastrophes in the United States and the Caribbean, including damages from Hurricane Andrew, Hurricane Katrina, numerous tornadoes throughout the mid‐west, the Northridge Earthquake in California, and Tropical Cyclone Sandy in the Northeast.  He also worked in Liberia, West Africa inspecting damages to the Firestone / Bridgestone Harbel Rubber Plantation during the civil war that ravaged much of the country.
