Andrew Short, CPA, ABV, CFF, CFE, CIRA, CGMA, is a Managing Director in the Chicago and Phoenix offices of J.S. Held’s Strategic Advisory Group with 30 years of experience as a financial consultant. He has extensive expertise working with complex financial data to bring successful outcomes to clients across various industries. Andrew provides financial advisory services to debtors and secured and unsecured creditors in and out of bankruptcy. Services include turnaround, restructuring services, and Chapter 11 proceedings. Experience also includes administration of state court receiverships, liquidating plans, Section 363 sales, and pursuit of claim recoveries on behalf of bankruptcy estates to maximize returns to creditors. Andrew has served as Chief Restructuring Officer and Financial Advisor to distressed companies, liquidating trustees, and court-appointed receivers.
Andrew also has decades of forensic accounting experience conducting complex investigations and assessing economic damages across a variety of types of matters, including internal investigations, fraudulent transfers, avoidance actions, solvency matters, and fraud (including asset misappropriation and financial statement misstatements), breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, post-acquisition disputes, construction claims, business valuation disputes, partnership disputes, insurance claims, trade secret misappropriation, wrongful terminations, personal injury, and wrongful death. He has testified as an expert witness for plaintiffs and defendants in state court, federal court, arbitration, and mediation. He has also served as a jointly retained neutral forensic accountant.
Andrew has worked with clients in a wide range of industries, including construction, financial services, professional services, startup companies and startup company incubation, real estate, food processing, manufacturing, aviation, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, consumer products, nonprofits, and multi-level marketing.
