Austin Mars joined J.S. Held in 2019 with the acquisition of HSNO. Austin worked on projects for Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Maria, Florence, and Michael. He has experience in property damage analyses, business interruption analyses, and business valuations. These analyses have involved hospitals, manufacturing plants, distribution centers, retail stores, and restaurants.

Austin earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Georgia in 2017. From there he went on to earn a master’s degree from the University of Georgia in 2018. While at University of Georgia, Austin worked as a graduate assistant where he aided professors in research, proctoring exams, and grading exams. He also tutored students in beginner accounting classes every week.

During undergrad and grad school Austin volunteered for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA). At VITA he helped low income tax payers file and understand their taxes. At University of Georgia he took on a position as a manager to a team of preparers and helped the preparers with unknown and tricky aspects that tax returns would have. Austin was also responsible for reviewing his team’s work and giving final approval for all tax returns his team filed.
