Summary of Experience:
Brian Jeff Grill is a Licensed Architect in five states, registered as Residential Designer and licensed as General Contractor in his home State of Nevada. He holds multiple certifications in Building Code Administration and is an active participant in professional organizations related to the design and building industries. Throughout his professional career spanning more than 40 years, Brian has focused his efforts in the establishment, adoption and enforcement of building codes and design and construction industry standards. He has spent the past 25 years in the field of Forensic Architecture, Building Construction Analysis, Premises Liability and Surety Consulting.
Prior to joining J.S. Held, Brian was employed with Benchmark Consulting Services, providing case management for litigation and dispute resolution. Over his 17 years with Benchmark, Brian worked on projects in California, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Colorado, providing investigative, reporting, project analysis, project remediation. He has provided expert testimony in more than 300 instances related to contractual disputes between owners, architects and contractors during his 25 years in the field. Additionally, Brian has provided litigation support in property/casualty claims of injury, related to construction sites, property maintenance, gaming and entertainment and personal services industries. His clients include the insurance industry, surety, property owners, licensed design professionals, developers and contractors and their respective attorneys.
Brian has also been an educator, having taught Architecture at a California Community College; building inspection and plan review procedures and techniques to building department personnel throughout Southern California; and construction document review and plan reading to attorneys working in the construction and surety fields. Brian maintains active and participatory membership in several professional organizations, including the International Codes Council (ICC), American Institute of Architects (AIA), American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA), National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) and ASTM International.
