J.S. Held Acquires Shechter & Everett to Expand Forensic Accounting Capabilities for Family Law Disputes in Florida

Carey Miller is a Managing Director with deep expertise in forensic accounting and litigation consulting. She has worked on a wide range of matters, including the application of accounting principles, audit evaluations, financial statement analysis, and the calculation of economic damages. Her work often involves complex financial issues and identifying the key facts and trends that shape each case.
She has led engagements supporting regulatory investigations and legal disputes, including work with the Securities and Exchange Commission on matters involving corporate officers, directors, and external auditors. Carey has also advised legal teams representing state insurance commissioners in the receivership of insolvent insurance companies. Other recent projects include post-acquisition disputes and assignments focused on quantifying economic damages. In addition to her consulting work, she has experience in auditing and evaluating internal controls across a variety of industries.
At J.S. Held, Carey is based in the Washington D.C. Metro and Philadelphia areas. She oversees all phases of forensic analysis for law firms and their clients, working on disputes, litigation, arbitrations, and investigations. Her responsibilities include analyzing financial records, assessing damages, supporting deposition preparation, developing expert reports, and trial or arbitration preparation.
Carey was recognized with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ Standing Ovation award in Forensics and Valuation Services and currently serves on the AICPA’s Forensics and Litigation Services Committee.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting, graduating magna cum laude from Messiah College.
