Daniel Overbeek, MD, is a physician consultant board-certified in Medical Toxicology, Addiction Medicine, and Emergency Medicine, with more than a decade of clinical experience across academic trauma centers and rural critical access hospitals. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of toxic exposures and substance use disorders, including opioid and alcohol dependence, with expertise in medication-assisted treatment using methadone and buprenorphine.

At J.S. Held, Dr. Overbeek provides medical toxicology and human health risk consulting services to attorneys, corporations, and public entities. His work includes medical record review, exposure and dose reconstruction, adverse event analysis, and regulatory and safety evaluations. He has extensive experience preparing expert reports, supporting depositions, and delivering trial testimony in complex, high-stakes litigation.

Dr. Overbeek earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Michigan, received his Doctor of Medicine from Wayne State University School of Medicine, completed an Emergency Medicine residency at the University of Michigan, and went on to complete a fellowship in Medical Toxicology at Harvard.
