Darrell Smith is a seasoned vice president and municipal engineer with over 38 years of experience in the public and private sectors. His expertise spans planning, design, construction, operations, and forensic investigations of municipal infrastructure. Darrell has conducted numerous forensic investigations and peer reviews on complex insurance and legal claims across Canada's residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.

Throughout his career, Darrell has held senior leadership roles in various organizations, managing teams of up to 400 people and overseeing multidisciplinary operations and service delivery. He is a recognized expert in municipal infrastructure and urban hydrology, having prepared over 50 expert witness reports and participated in numerous arbitrations and mediations for plaintiffs and defendants.

At J.S. Held, Darrell conducts forensic investigations of complex municipal infrastructure failures and flooding and provides operational risk management advisory services. His responsibilities include business development, building service line brands, and expanding the municipal infrastructure team.

Darrell holds a Certificate of Engineering from Mount Allison University and a Bachelor of Engineering from the Technical University of Nova Scotia.
