Joseph "Joe" Nappi, CTP, joined J.S. Held in October of 2023 as part of J.S. Held's acquisition of Phoenix Management Services.

Joe is a Senior Managing Director at Phoenix Management and Phoenix IB, a part of J.S. Held, LLC, with nearly 20 years of experience in special situations across the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Asia. His areas of expertise include operational and financial turnaround and restructuring strategies, interim management, investment banking, corporate development, and strategic planning. Throughout his career, Joe has assisted middle-market companies in various roles, including interim manager, turnaround manager, investment banker, and financial advisor. He has been involved in numerous transactions involving complex operational and financial restructurings, integrations of strategic roll-ups of operations, capital raising, and buy/sale mandates in North America and Europe. His clients have ranged across several industries and business environments, including public, private, family-owned, start-up, and private equity-sponsored companies.

Joe’s propensity to develop collaborative solutions within all constituents is a particular strength that leads to effective and measurable solutions. He has served in interim management roles, including Board Advisory, CRO, Chief Integration Officer, and CFO. In addition, he has led many M&A pre-transaction related due diligence, quality of earnings, and business assessments in a wide variety of business circumstances, industries, and transaction types, including one of the largest transportation companies in the US, a multinational metal tubing company, and a multi-site prototyping and bridge production manufacturer to the automotive and aerospace industries.

Joe’s understated style allows his clients and their related constituents to reach a consensus in a manner that reflects his practical approach to problem-solving. He possesses expertise in financial analysis and forecasting, as well as exceptional operational acumen. This leads to an ability to quickly assess a situation, develop practical strategic alternatives, build consensus, and implement an effective strategy that addresses his clients’ issues.

As part of the Strategic Advisory Group, Joe leads the firm’s endeavors in Investor Services, Investment Banking, and Operations Value Creation, and serves in a wide variety of assignments across Turnaround & Restructuring Services.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Financial/Investments and a minor in Information Systems from Babson College, graduating Cum Laude. He also completed Chase Manhattan Bank’s Global Investment Banking Training Program.
