John is a Senior Advisor with more than 45 years of experience in leadership roles within the energy and environmental sectors. A results-oriented approach to project oversight, regulatory navigation, and operational execution has defined his career. He has consistently delivered value through strategic planning, client-focused service, and a commitment to quality and performance across complex infrastructure programs.

John's experience spans hydroelectric, fossil, nuclear, wind, and solar power generation, as well as transmission facilities and system reliability initiatives. John has led efforts in capital investment assessment, generation mix analysis, financial modeling, equipment selection, and load profile evaluation. His ability to balance technical demands with environmental considerations has been a hallmark of his work across diverse energy projects.

At J.S. Held, John developed and led the Energy & Environmental Advisory service line, where he continues to serve as a senior advisor. His role involves guiding clients through intricate regulatory frameworks with a focus on practical innovation, cost efficiency, and schedule awareness. His strategic insight and political acumen have proven essential in achieving successful outcomes in complex regulatory environments.

John holds a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from Charleston Southern University, earned in 1992. He also has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from The Citadel, completed in 1980. His academic foundation supports his technical and managerial expertise across multidisciplinary energy and infrastructure projects.

His project experience includes work throughout the United States, as well as international assignments in Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and China.
