Held's Human Factors & User Research team, with over seven years of experience in ergonomics, occupational biomechanics, and injury risk assessment across various industries, including consumer technology, construction, transportation, fishery, forestry, mining, and manufacturing.
Dr. Kia has conducted extensive academic research for government (NIOSH) and private partners (Bose, Alpha Foundation, Office Ergonomics Research Committee) to address musculoskeletal injuries in complex occupational settings. Her work involved risk factor characterization, ergonomic intervention design and implementation, and product/process usability testing.
As an Ergonomics Engineering Intern at Tesla Inc., she performed ergonomic assessments and implemented interventions to mitigate musculoskeletal injury risks for over 30 tasks, evaluated the usability of exoskeletons, and prototyped ergonomic solutions.
Dr. Kia has authored more than ten peer-reviewed journal articles and served as a reviewer for scientific journals in human factors and ergonomics. She has presented at various academic and professional settings, including the annual Human Factors and Ergonomics Society meetings.
At J.S. Held, Dr. Kia works in study design, execution, and data analysis at the User Research Labs (URL).
