Livia Paggi joined J.S. Held in May of 2022 as part of J.S. Held's acquisition of GPW. Livia manages Political Risk, ESG, and Business Intelligence services. She advises multinational clients on doing business successfully in some of the world’s most challenging markets. Over the past decade, Livia has developed expertise in Russia and the wider Eurasia region. Livia is a sought-after speaker and regularly provides commentary on global political trends for the media, including for the BBC, Bloomberg TV, CNN, and the Financial Times.

Livia's recent work includes leading GPW’s risk assessments for various international development banks, including the World Bank, among others, pre-IPO advisory work on political risk and ESG issues for a gold mining company with assets across the African continent, advising numerous extractive companies on their joint ventures in emerging markets, especially on negotiations with the host government, resource nationalism, and the local regulatory environments, conducted due diligence for Private Equity funds in various emerging markets, political risk and market entry studies for tech clients in the EMEA region including providing government relations and policy support and advising oil and gas companies on US/EU sanctions risks in Russia.

She is fluent in English, Italian, French, and Russian. Livia holds a BA in Political Science from Columbia University and an MSc in Energy Policy from Imperial College.
