Michael J. Abi Aoun is an Assistant Vice President with over 25 years of experience in new and renovation construction and surety completion work. He has strong expertise in on-site construction management combined with a thorough knowledge of all general construction estimating disciplines. Michael is experienced in multi-level negotiations between owners, contractors, unions, and tenants. Additionally, he is experienced in the development and presentation and evaluation of construction claims for owners, contractors, and sureties.
In the role of an Assistant Vice President, Michael has provided leadership, represented owners and provided recommendations regarding all project issues. He has directly overseen all monthly reporting responsibilities, including document control and has demonstrated extensive experience working with and coordinating the multitude of details between the contractors, consultants, and building officials that makes an Owner’s project successful.
Michael is presently an Assistant Vice President, representing Sureties on defaulted projects and oversees the completion construction. He analyzes contractor bids prior to award, prepares estimates and costs to complete analyses, and prepares work plans. Most notably, Michael coordinated with the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York, Turner Construction, and the defaulted Principal, along with their subcontractors, on the $40 million renovation and addition at Brooklyn College, successfully completing the work, in addition to preparing claims and change orders.
Michael was previously, employed by Roman Roads Construction Corp. as a Project/Construction Manager and Estimator. His responsibilities included preparing estimates for municipal bids and private owners. As the site Project Manager on various multi-million dollar construction projects, some of Michael’s responsibilities included the supervision of all field personnel, hiring required staff, and completing projects. His projects included the construction of a new pump stations, installation of sanitary storm piping, construction of new drainage facilities, roadways, paving, sidewalks, commercial and residential space. Michael started his career as a Superintendent for A&G Marble and Granite, where his duties included management of the installation of high rise building facades. As the owner of a small contracting firm, Construction Solutions, Michael performed renovation and new construction in residential and light commercial areas as well as completed projected associated with the NYC Housing Authority.
