Michael Kolpak is a retired Nevada State Police Detective with extensive experience investigating arson, insurance fraud, fatal fires, explosions, high-liability fires, and burn injuries. 

Beginning his specialization in arson and insurance fraud investigations during the 2008 housing crisis in southern Nevada, Michael has a successful track record of convictions in criminal cases he has investigated. He also investigated fire protection systems and contractors for code compliance as a State regulatory agent. He has experience investigating multinational companies and providing support on litigation with attorneys.

Michael has testified in numerous depositions, preliminary inquiry hearings, and a jury trial related to fire/explosion investigations, insurance fraud, and other felony crimes. His experience encompasses large and complex loss management and high-liability claims. Michael previously served as the Southern Director of the Nevada Police Union, where he negotiated the state's Collective Bargaining Agreement and represented officers in personnel matters. Today, Michael is on the Board of Directors for the Nevada Police Foundation, assisting law enforcement officers and their families in times of need.

Michael has presented on topics including search and seizure, legal issues, and law enforcement matters at various police academies in Nevada. He has also provided written and oral expert witness testimony in criminal investigations, civil depositions, jury trials, and preliminary hearings. Michael specializes in fire and explosion scene investigations and investigates incidents in commercial, residential, and industrial facilities, automobiles, heavy equipment, and marine conveyances.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of Illinois at Chicago and is a US Air Force Veteran of the First Gulf War. He has project geographical experience in the US and Canada and is fluent in English and German.
