Michael Spensieri brings over 27 years of experience in building construction, construction materials testing, infrastructure, and forensic engineering. He specializes in evaluating and resolving civil and structural failures with extensive knowledge of land development and residential construction with national homebuilders.
Prior to joining J.S. Held, Michael worked in geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing, focusing on subsurface investigations, materials inspection, and construction practices for both civil and structural projects.
As a Regional Lead, Michael Spensieri supports both clients and internal teams across a broad range of project needs, including budgeting, resource allocation, technical consulting, and project management. He also performs structural forensic evaluations throughout the mid-Atlantic and northeastern United States, with a portfolio that spans single-family residences and commercial buildings. His evaluations frequently involve determining the origin, cause, and extent of damage to building envelopes; identifying construction defects; assessing moisture intrusion and foundation settlement; and damage from floods, fire, vibrations, and storm-related events, as well as impacts from vehicles and trees.
Michael holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from West Virginia University.
