Michelle Papenfuss is a financial fiduciary with extensive experience managing large federal equity receiverships. She adeptly manages restructuring and turnaround matters, conducts forensic investigations, oversees operations and cash management, provides credible financial reporting, and helps clients navigate negotiations with creditors and claimants to achieve optimal outcomes.

Prior to joining J.S. Held’s Strategic Advisory Group, Michelle worked under a federal equity receiver as Vice President of Finance of a large, private equity company in receivership. Drawing on her background as a financial analyst and treasury associate, she managed company operations and successfully executed multiple distribution rounds to recover funds for defrauded investors. As part of the receivership team, she conducted an in-depth forensic investigation, producing the forensic report utilized by the federal court. 

Michelle received a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Business Administration with an International Business option from Oregon State University.
