Oscar is a Civil Engineer with a specialization in structural design. His experience includes helping with the design of principal elements of a building (slabs, beams, columns, walls, etc.) in several projects with structural dynamic modeling and advanced finite element modeling applied to new and existing structures with international standards. In the past, Oscar has worked as a bridge designer, with a focus in balanced cantilever bridges of large spans. His experience has also encompassed the design of aluminum façades, including CFD analysis and non-linear FEA modeling, to analyze the effect of wind crossing through aluminum metal panels exposed to hurricanes or high-velocity winds. As a programmer, Oscar has developed calculation sheets that aid in the design and analysis of international code compliant structural elements made from various materials such as steel, aluminum, and concrete.
At J.S. Held, Oscar works with the forensic engineering group on matters involving structural collapse and damage analysis. He also develops complex finite element models based on the actual condition of structures, in terms of materials, load paths, and design deficiencies, to depict structural behavior at the time of the event.
