Rosemary Kress is an accredited rugs, carpets, and tapestries appraiser and a member of the Appraisers Association of America. Rosemary has over three decades of experience in the art, auction, and appraisal industries, specializing in Persian and Oriental rugs and carpets. She began her career several decades ago at Freeman’s Auction House in Philadelphia, gaining foundational experience in estate appraisals and auction cataloging.
Over the past 16 years, she has specialized in insurance appraisals of textiles and weavings, focusing on antique and semi-antique Persian, Caucasian, Chinese, and European rugs and tapestries for pre-loss and post-loss valuation.
As a team lead and review appraiser for a property insurance evaluation firm, Rosemary has conducted thousands of evaluations for high-net-worth and general clientele. Her expertise includes insurance replacement values, auction and wholesale values, diminution in value, and restoration/salvage recommendations.
Rosemary has presented on the history of hand-knotted Persian and Oriental rugs, construction types, value-driving attributes, and valuation methodologies. She provides educational and training presentations for both internal support and client-facing purposes.
