What truly differentiates J.S. Held is our people — world-class talent driven by a common set of core values. Together, these shared values inspire a culture of integrity, excellence, teamwork, and service.
Elizabeth Foster has been with J.S. Held for more than five years and in that time has become an integral part of the firm’s Building Consulting Practice. Elizabeth is based out of our Austin, Texas office and is known for her enthusiasm, humor, and dedication to both her team and clients.
Whether she is performing a property damage assessment, producing a repair estimate, or monitoring repairs/remediation efforts, Elizabeth always approaches each assignment with tremendous energy and passion.
“It’s truly a pleasure to watch how Elizabeth has ascended throughout her tenure here at J.S. Held,” said Steve Hardgrave, Vice President – Building Consulting Practice.
A defining characteristic of Elizabeth’s personality is her curiosity. Throughout her career, she has spent time working in construction, event planning, advertising, and logistics. From each endeavor, she’s taken away one common lesson, which is success is dependent upon a team and not an individual – no matter what the profession.
What ultimately drew Elizabeth into the construction industry full-time is the ability to be a part of creating or restoring a structure alongside a team of specialized experts. She is inspired by the opportunity to develop solutions to challenges that involve complex variables and multiple team members who are all working towards a common goal – to provide answers.
Within construction, Elizabeth has served in a variety of roles, including:
Collectively, these roles and experiences have helped Elizabeth understand the logistics of a job as it pertains to the contractors, consultants, and materials that will be needed, as well as how long the process is going to take. Her knowledge and understanding of these components are the foundation for her work today as a building consultant and project monitor.
Elizabeth is engaged on matters related to building consulting, project monitoring, desktop reviews, invoice analysis, project takeoff, and estimating. A few examples of projects she has been involved with include a shopping center impacted by hail that eventually caused widespread interior water damage, parking garage collapse, and a hospital that experienced extensive flooding from Hurricane Harvey.
What Elizabeth enjoys most about her role is the part she plays in exploring the story behind each project and collaborating with others to ultimately bring the total narrative together and reach a resolution.
Away from work, Elizabeth enjoys hiking, fishing, hunting, attending the theatre, and sitting on the porch playing dominoes with family and friends. Another regular attendee in her adventures is her dog, Jack, who Elizabeth characterizes as “great at theatre but lousy as a dominoes partner.”
Elizabeth is also actively involved in her community where she helps several organizations and people in need as opportunities arise. Giving back and investing in others is her greatest source of fulfillment and something she believes in wholeheartedly.
