What truly differentiates J.S. Held is our people — world-class talent driven by a common set of core values. Together, these shared values inspire a culture of integrity, excellence, teamwork, and service.
Kristen Saraos joined J.S. Held four years ago and in the time since has used her expertise in water mitigation, fire and smoke restoration, and property damage to serve the insurance and legal community across the US. Kristen’s tenacity, work ethic, and attention to detail have earned her the trust of her clients and colleagues while propelling her career to great heights – doing what she loves.
Before coming to J.S. Held, Kristen worked in the restoration industry for more than 10 years, which is a different path than she had planned on taking. Inspired by the teachers in her childhood who took a sincere interest in her success and wellbeing, Kristen set out to become an elementary school teacher. However, while she was in college, she took a job as an administrative assistant and receptionist for a restoration firm in El Monte, CA, and the rest, as they say, is history. Captivated by the subject matter and fueled by the newfound knowledge she was acquiring, Kristen decided to make working in the construction and restoration industry her career.
In order to get ahead in the field, Kristen committed herself to studying and learning, absorbing all of the information she could from IICRC study materials and on-the-job training. Her hard work would later pay dividends in obtaining certifications that have since paved the way for her career. Kristen’s certifications include Asbestos Supervisor (OSHA) and numerous IICRC certifications – Water Restoration Technician, Applied Microbial Remediation, Fire & Smoke Restoration, OSHA Health & Safety, and Odor Control.
Throughout the years, Kristen has worked as a Case Coordinator, Claims Manager, and Project Manager in the fire, water, and mold restoration industry. Today, as a Director for the J.S. Held Building Consulting Practice, she conducts property damage assessments, develops repair estimates, and performs desktop reviews.
Much of her work has involved large commercial water losses in metro Los Angeles. Her diversified experience, whether in extremely rare and exotic building materials, large loss commercial, residential high-rise, or medical facilities, has broadened her skills and expertise in the science and techniques behind water mitigation, fire restoration, and microbial remediation.
Kristen attributes her introduction to J.S. Held to Pedro Arceyut, Vice President of Building Consulting - Florida. “I always respected Pedro's professionalism and dedication to the facts of the project,” said Kristen. “He always took the time to explain his approach and reasoning and allowed the restoration team to do the same.”
It was this level of professionalism, kindness, and dedication to providing quality service that gave Kristen a glimpse of what J.S. Held is like. It is also what makes her so proud to be a part of the Temecula, CA, team today.
Kristen’s passion for learning combined with her detail-oriented personality are paramount to her daily work preparing property sketches, collecting data, determining extent of damage and scope of repairs, developing estimates, and reviewing invoices for restoration and reconstruction services, a job that requires precise calculation and meticulous care.
Kristen is inspired by the knowledge she continues to gain on a daily basis, in and out of her field, as well as the professional relationships she shares with clients and colleagues alike.
When not at work, Kristen enjoys spending time with her husband and two children in their new home, which together is also their first and something Kristen has dreamed of for as long as she can remember. One of her biggest joys is being able to have family and friends over to enjoy each other’s company and a delicious home-cooked meal, especially when her beloved Los Angeles Rams score a touchdown against her husband’s New England Patriots.
