The Situation

In this scenario, J.S. Held was asked by prosecutors to analyze and ultimately testify in a trial concerning a road-rage collision involving multiple vehicles. The suspect in this case fled the scene of the collision after killing two people, and another driver was seriously injured.

How We Advised

J.S. Held experts combined traditional accident reconstruction techniques, event data recorded by the vehicles involved in the crash, and analysis of multiple videos to reconstruct the sequence of events that led to the fatal collision. Two of our experts testified in the trial, and a third developed 3D models that were introduced and accepted as evidence at the trial. This allowed the vehicles to travel from the tow yard into the courtroom and enabled jurors to utilize tangible models of the vehicles involved (in both pre- and post-crash condition) during deliberations.

Ultimately, the jury convicted the suspect of multiple charges, including first-degree murder.
