J.S. Held Acquires Clark Seif Clark, Strengthening West Coast Capabilities for Environmental Claims, Disputes, and Catastrophe Response
Read MoreIn this scenario, J.S. Held was asked by a client to evaluate the potential carcinogenic risks associated with exposure to a chemical found in two personal care products, in order to determine whether health hazard warning labels were necessary.
By evaluating dose-response data for multiple cancer endpoints and calculating cancer slope factors, our team identified safe levels of exposure to the chemical for which significant health risks were not anticipated. Subsequently, we conducted a detailed exposure assessment of the chemical, taking into account a wide range of product usage scenarios and exposure factors. The resulting estimated exposure levels were below levels for which there would be concern for carcinogenic risk. As a result of our assessment, we helped the client reduce product liability burden and avoid potentially costly legal and regulatory fees.
