Mr. Olmstead has conducted, directed, and participated in numerous investigative and forensic evaluations of residential, commercial, and industrial structures and/or related equipment, appliances, and electrical systems. As part of his investigations he has performed non-destructive and destructive laboratory examinations as needed, employing industry standard protocols and methods. These evaluations are typically performed to assess component failure(s), construction deficiencies, and third-party modifications or alterations from the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications.
Mr. Olmstead has conducted forensic investigations pertaining to electric shock hazards, electrocution incidents, electrical codes, and installation deficiencies, computer software alarm database (MS Access and SQL), and emergency pull-cord systems, lightning protection systems, lightning strike evaluations, and connected equipment and appliances. He has also conducted fire and explosion investigations on multiple occasions.
Mr. Olmstead has experience and has been qualified to evaluate and opine on electrical engineering, fire investigation, construction defects, industry standards, Electrical & Life Safety Codes, and construction practices regarding industrial, commercial, and residential electrical systems. He has investigated and determined the cause of numerous fire and explosion incidents to include industrial, commercial, and residential structures, vehicles, equipment, appliances, and installation deficiencies. These systems include primary and secondary electrical distribution systems, structural wiring, generators, motors, pumps, fans, compressors, motor controls, 3-phase, single phase, transformers: delta-wye, delta-delta, delta high leg; HVAC equipment, gas and electric appliances, and other electrical utilization devices.
