W. Doug Douglass is the Director of a team of safety professionals for JS Held’s Tampa office. He is available as an instructor, planner, and as a subject matter expert. Doug has more than 28 years of experience in emergency preparedness and response including 22 years with the American Red Cross where he ultimately served as the Regional Director of Internal Support Services for Florida’s West Coast Region. He was responsible for all logistical, damage assessment and technological support of Disaster Services for the region which covered 8 counties.
For the last two years, Doug has served on the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations Structural Engineering Emergency Response Committee (NCSEA SEER) and has been the primary subject matter expert for the 2nd Responder Roster, a roster of over 1,500 specially trained engineers, architects, and building professionals who deploy to assist with Post Disaster Safety Assessments in partnership with the International Code Council (ICC). During the 2017 Hurricane Season, Doug handled all deployments and requests for assistance during Hurricane’s Harvey, Irma, and Maria for the NCSEA SEER program.
