Biography

Mr. Kennedy serves as the Vice President – Fire O&C Practice Manager responsible for technical oversight, recruiting, training, and fire and explosion scene operations. He is an experienced investigator and operations manager with a demonstrated history of working in the fire and explosion forensics industry. Mr. Kennedy conducts and supervises investigations for numerous insurance clients and government entities to determine the origin and cause of fire and explosion incidents and other assigned investigative activities. He is responsible for operations and technical oversight of the Fire O&C Practice. Mr. Kennedy conducts technical reviews on forensic investigation assignments, collaborates with investigators and clients to assure the best results possible during the investigation and litigation process. He is also responsible for recruiting, retention, investigative training, and oversees J.S. Held’s evidence collection and storage. Mr. Kennedy has the professionalism and expertise to work with clients and staff investigators to assure each investigation is handled properly and is prepared for potential litigation. Additionally, he has testified on multiple occasions as a court-qualified expert.

Mr. Kennedy is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (IAAI-CFI) with the International Association of Arson Investigators. He is a Licensed Private Investigator with the North Carolina Board of Private Protective Services and North Carolina Department of Public Safety. Mr. Kennedy also served as a Fire and Explosion Investigator with the Charlotte Fire Investigation Task Force, where he investigated and determined the origin and cause of fire and explosion incidents, including commercial structures, residential structures, and vehicles. He has completed numerous educational seminars and continuing education courses in the field of forensic investigation. Mr. Kennedy has testified and been qualified as an expert witness in court proceedings and depositions involving forensic investigations on multiple occasions.

Mr. Kennedy previously served as a Senior Fire Forensics Manager and was responsible for the technical management, training, recruiting, and daily operations. He was also responsible for technical supervision of national and government contracts (clearance held), business development within national and government contracts, and the support to sustain those contracts. Responsibilities include technical management of all regional and national account investigations, technical consultation with investigators in the field, providing technical guidance and assistance on large fire and explosion losses, and assisting investigators with the identification of subrogation and recovery potential on fire and explosion incidents. Mr. Kennedy also conducted new investigator recruiting and retention, developed and conducted the training program for investigators on a national level, and worked diligently to hire and retain expert investigators across all regions. He has developed key relationships with investigators in the United States and abroad, as well as developed key relationships and trust with clients and local government agencies tasked with forensic investigations.
