Josh Mitchell has worked in the insurance industry for over 20 years as a building claim specialist, claim manager, and catastrophe coordinator, with an extensive background managing the response to many large scale weather-related events. He brings years of experience leading teams through the process of estimating and settling large residential and commercial losses.
While working for a major insurance carrier prior to joining J.S. Held, Josh managed teams of claim professionals for the past 15 years in both catastrophe and in-office environments. In his most recent role, Josh managed an in-office unit where he was able to implement lean methodologies that ultimately lead to many operational efficiencies.
During his years in catastrophe leadership, Josh was responsible for the response to several notable CAT events including, the 2004 Hurricanes in Florida, Hurricane Rita, 2008 CA Wildfires, Hurricane Ike, Hurricane Irene, and many other large hail and windstorms along the way. The opportunity to experience these uniquely different roles honed Josh’s technical skills and provided a broader leadership perspective, which combine to qualify him as an expert in the field.
Josh graduated from Westar University in 1997 and holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. He also has earned his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation and is a licensed adjuster in every state where required.
