Paul Branston is a widely experienced quantity surveyor with 30 years industry experience spanning a number of industry sectors, roles and project sizes. Paul has worked mainly for or representing contractors both onsite in a commercial management role, and latterly in the preparation of bills of quantities for tendering purposes.
Paul has managed individuals and teams of surveyors in the preparation of tender bills on schemes up to £50 million including low and high-rise residential, new build and refurbishment of commercial premises, to major leisure facilities and in both elemental and trade package formats. Paul is well versed in both the standard method of measurement of Building Works 7th Edition, and the New Rules of Measurement. Paul has excellent IT skills and is experienced in both the electronic measurement and billing of quantities, and has conducted colleague training in their use and in the use of Microsoft Excel. Paul is familiar with On Center Software’s On Screen Takeoff, Exactal’s DimensionX and Causeway’s BIMMeasure measurement software, and both Vector and Causeway’s Take-off and Billing software for bills of quantities.
Paul has also been involved in construction dispute work including the recovery of disputed variation accounts and the writing of claims for extension of time and loss and expense. Paul has contributed to the commercial management of a combined cycle gas turbine plant, reservoir and associated infrastructure works and highway works, and has taken sole responsibility for projects from £30k to £5 million.
